Evaluation Question 3 from Lucy Gosling on Vimeo.
Notes
What have you learn from your audience feedback?
- Syncing - make sure that it was in time
- Not massive amounts!
- people look at more than just the acting
- they take in the whole image more than you think
- people love a good old love story - that's mostly females
- found it was useful to gain audience feedback when doing such things as producing my main product - music video.

Evaluation Question 1
In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
Analysis of Digi-Pak
The images above are my front cover and back for my album. I have named the album "See Me Through" as this is the song in which I have made my music video for. The song is actually names " You Got The Love" by Florence And The Machine, but in this circumstance the song is called "See Me Through" by Olivia Brooke. This is my artist that I have made.
I have tried to keep the album cover quite simple and emotional seeing as the lyrics are a very important factor for my whole music video. My music video listens to the lyrics and the story follows the lyrics and emotions of the song so I have tried to show that the album is emotional as well. The front cover shows the artist Olivia Brooke. Her eyes are down and you can just see her head. I have done this so it connects with the back of the album. On the back you can see half of the artists face and this time her eyes are open. This plays along with the concept of "see me through". The idea of 'seeing' has made me think of eyes and so I have made this a key feature of my album. As well as this, I have made the titles white and the back ground black, this is keep things simple and makes the text shows up very clearly and the songs are what is important to Olivia Brooke, not the way something is shown.
This is the image I have chosen for my CD and the back ground of the inner CD
. This image was taken underwater and this gives a sense of tranquillity and peacefulness. I have made the image black and white to again create more focus on the artist. As well as this, you see little specks on the image which is a feature you get when taking images underwater. This makes the image seen nostalgic which can be seen as emotional.

Below is the original image that was in colour and so I have manipulated it by changing it to black and white to add emotion and show more detail of the image.
These images are used for the Side of the CD that I have created. Although this is a very small and minor detail of the CD I have still tried to keep it very in tune with the rest of the CD and it's theme. I have added a different image to change up the shapes a little bit. As this image is almost a side perspective and so is different to the rest of the images that are front on profiles. I have adds contrast to the image to make it seem darker and the light on her face in too pastel-like and the contrast adds abit more shadow to the face which almost looks as if she is hiding her face. This can add a sensitive feel to the CD which adds to the emotion.
When needing to pick a font I found it difficult to chose between these options. But before coming to these font I had a different idea. I found three different titles that I liked and I did some audience research by asking people which one was there favourite.
'I am trying to decide on which title to use for an album cover… Looking at these 3 titles how does each one make you feel or think of?'
When looking at the results I found that the second font was the most popular and being voted as the favourite one. Then the first font came second and the third font came third (last). Reasons for this were that people thought the second font stood out to people, it was modern, it was strong and independent being able to stand on its own and make an effect of some sort on the audience and that it was feminine which fitted with the feel of the album and the artist. But after doing the photo shoot for the album cover I found that I know longer liked any of the fonts below and so found a new selection of fonts in which I just chose myself.
The image below that is in large shows the two fonts in which I am using for my album cover. I really like these fonts as they are very subtle. My research from the other fonts I chose I found that people liked the font that was bold and stood out. But I found that I didn't need the title to stand out and it wont be in competition with anything. The title will be a huge focus on the front cover and so I found these subtle fonts contrasted with the fact that although they are subtle, they will still be the main focus along with the large image on front. Analysis of Advert 1 for CD release
Here is my portrait version of an advert to advertise the release of Olivia Brooke's Album. I have tried to keep the album simple but still interesting enough to catch someones eye while flicking through a magazine. This poster was made with the intention to be a 'teaser' poster. It advertises the album but doesn't give loads of details about the album but gets people excited for when it does come out. I have included small details such as popular songs that are well known that will feature on the album. I have included the date in which is is released. As well as showing the actual image of the CD in the bottom right hand corner. The production credits include Crack Productions which is a made up company so I would not have to contact anyone to ask for permission. I have used this image which features on the side of the CD as it is very emotional and beautiful. The artist Olivia Brooke also looks like she is looking down to the CD which makes people look and her and think what is she looking at and so they look down and that's where they see the image of the album so it is recognisable to readers when the album does eventually come out. I am really pleased with this advert, and feel that the boxes around the words just adds a quirky feel to the whole advert. The words not being in line adds something different and the colours that are subtle greens and grey/blue adds abit of colour without being too much in your face.
I was looking at these other font for the information before choosing the one I actually used. I thought the first one was a little too girly and with the curly detail on the letter was abit too fancy and feminine.
The second one was a little too 'thriller' like, as the words looked quite 'harsh' and quick, where I wanted to writing to flow and look nice and easy to read.
The third one was I thought was a little difficult to read and with all the writing backed together I thought it was even harder. I really like this one though but still didn't think it was the right one to use.
Looking at the one I actually used I am very pleased as it is bold and very easy to read and understand. It wasn't too feminine but it wasn't messy or masculine. I am very pleased with this text and think it works really well with the rest of my poster.
Anaylsis of Advert 2 for CD Release
The different to this advert to the other advert is not only the layout and the fact that the other one is portrait and this one is landscape but the actual meaning of each advert. The other was seen as a teaser poster that had minimal information and didn't give away much detail about the album and its release. Only really the date was shown. This advert is the release advert where it is ... "OUT NOW" ... and so therefore is available in stores. Therefore I have included lots of information about it and have included reviews from magazines including gossip magazines and music magazines to show a bit of variety. I have also made this advert less colourful than the teaser one as the teaser poster had to grab peoples attention and make them aware that soon the album would be released and everyone should go and buy it. Now the album has already been released and people have bound to already have seen it on sale or have it themselves already. Therefore I don't need to work as hard on grabbing peoples attention and making them aware of the CD. But I have kept the theme of the advert style the same so that the teaser and the Out Now poster still connect to sell the same album.

I have used the same style image to make the adverts relate to each other but have tried to just make the advert different by the layout and detail. This image was originally a portrait image as you can see...
I have them cropped it down and added black in the make the layout for a landscape advert. Again the image is very simple and the seems peaceful. I found all the text I wanted to include fitted in really nice along side her face and under her artist name title. I have used the same fonts as the first advert again to keep the two adverts connecting.
Analysis of Ancillary Task 2 Magazine Advertisement
Here are two drawings of the kind of look I am going for with my magazine advertisements. This is a little bit of Test Drawings so I have a plan to follow. I am looking at two different types of Advertisements. One landscape and one portrait. This is because when you put an advertisement in a magazine you have different placements to work with not only the look of the magazine but it is also helpful to have a two different versions when you are not sure on the amount of space you are entitled too in the magazine.
Looking on Google Images I have found three different advertisements for different genres of music.
